About Us
ELEOS was founded with the aim of producing exquisitely beautiful, handcrafted devotional art and sacramentals. The enchanting power of Beauty, as expressed so sublimely by Christian artists throughout the centuries, remains a powerful means by which souls are drawn to God, and, as noted by Pope Benedict XVI in his discourse on the "Via Pulchritudinis" (the Way of Beauty), is perhaps the most efficacious means of reaching out to a secular age so distanced from the Church.
The means of achieving ELEOS' goal has been to create a small, though ever-increasing network of highly skilled artists. These artists form the cornerstone of the quality of ELEOS' products as they guide the artistic development of every new product from its infancy. It also belongs to ELEOS mission to support and incentivise artists by means of a royalty scheme in which they receive a percentage of every sale. Presently, we partner with British numismatic artists Julian Cross, Robert Elderton and renowned Italian wood sculptor, Georg Bergmeister of which you can read biographies below.
Devotional medals of exquisite craftmanship.
The creation of ELEOS devotional medals begins with the original plaster modelling at a size of approximately 20cm. Our artists employ the ancient craft of bas-relief carving. The basic medium is plaster of Paris and the tools are simple ‘gravers’ or ‘points’ used to model away the soft plaster. Most of the creation is achieved in the reverse by "intaglio" carving, the repeated process of casting plaster into plaster numerous times and painstakingly working each piece both in the positive and negative casts enables the design to grow through the craftsmanship of the artist’s hand and eye. Only the very final bas-relief, after weeks of work, is then used as the Master pattern, which after reduction is used for creating the dies for striking the medal.
The plaster model is then transferred to Thomas Fattorini Ltd, a 198 year old, sixth generation family owned manufacturing business specialising in civic insignia, medals, honours and awards, automotive products, silverware and name badges. Clients of Fattorini’s include National Governments, The British Royal Family, Major Sporting Events including Wimbledon, the Rugby World Cup and London Olympics, exclusive automative brands Mclaren, Aston Martin, Bentley and many others.
Fine art prints.
ELEOS fine art prints represent a selection of the finest works of Christian Art. Partnering with art galleries and museums throughout the world, each fine art print is reproduced from the highest resolution photographic files available, acquired directly from the institution in which the original artwork is held. The superior quality of files used for the reproductions is matched by the Giclee printing process using advanced 2880i printing technology and the finest archival quality papers.
